Lincoln Minster School Overcomes Budgetary Pressures to Comply with the Prevent Strategy

Despite being able to trace its history back to the 13th century, Lincoln Minster School had its eyes firmly trained on the future when it recognised the need to augment traditional teaching methods with mobile devices.

With an ageing wired network, no wireless across its historic city centre campus, and coming under increased pressure to comply with Government safeguarding legislation, including the Prevent Strategy, the school turned to LAN3.

How to Provide Secure Connectivity on a Shoestring

Lincoln Minster School faced the same issue many education establishments face when looking to make use of technology in the classroom: - how to offer connectivity to devices that support teaching, while keeping students safe, and the school compliant with e-safety and Government legislation.

Simon Cornish, Network and Systems Manager, said: “We needed to be able to provide far better reporting and feedback to the Senior Leadership Team on all aspects of our network, including logging student usage of the internet, if we were going to integrate technology into the day-to-day learning experiences of our pupils.”

Immediately after installation the reporting and monitoring tools inherent within the Aerohive solution LAN3 recommended provided greater visibility over the school’s network, and allowed Simon to make informed IT policy decisions, with a much clearer understanding of what was happening.
